Barcelona is one of the biggest and most exciting cities in Europe. It is different to other Spanish cities due to its Catalan culture, however still maintains the traditional Spanish passion. The architecture of Barcelona is one of highlights of the city, one can spend the day aimlessly walking around the decorated streets and deem it a day not wasted. And clearly when speaking of architecture, in Barcelona, one can’t help but think of modernist Antoni Gaudi; with the most familiar being the meticulously detailed, gothic cathedral the Sagrada Famila, The magical Park Guell and the ‘stone lung’, La Pedrera. However, his lesser known, and some argue more impressive work, lies a short drive with your Sixt rent a car; the Church of Cononia Guell. Unfinished though it may be, It has been noted by experts that this hidden gem is one of the more faithful to the spirit of his architecture.
For a more relaxing day you can you can take respite in one of the many beaches in and around Barcelona; with 7 beaches making up the 4-kilometer Mediterranean coastline. If you prefer a more isolated experience, take a short drive north of city to Caldetes Beach. However if you must only do one road trip during your stay in Barcelona, Cap de Creus must be it. A 2 hour drive with your Sixt rent a car to the edge of Spain, offering stunning views on the way, will take your breath away!
Like any metropolis, Barcelona has a plethora of shops and restaurants.
