Greenland is now getting its first international car rental company. It happens on July 1st, when Sixt Denmark opens its rental office in Nuuk. Hereby yet another country on Sixt’s world map becomes orange – the corporate color of the company that now covers over 105 countries.
Sixt is very excited to be opening its arctic office in Greenland
Sixt car rental will service a growing number of tourists and business travelers on the island.
Until now travelers heading to Greenland have been referred to local players when needing to rent a car on the island. In conjunction with a rising number of foreign tourists and business travelers, the requirement for a car rental company with an international profile has risen. This requirement is now being met. Monday, July 1st, 2013, is the opening day for Sixt Rent a Cars office in Nuuk.
“Sixt is growing rapidly and opening in Greenland in a natural step in our development. We very much look forward to opening our first arctic rental station where we hope to attract new customers with our international profile and reputation for high service”
says Henrik Isaksen, Chairman of the board of Sixt Denmark.
He is supplemented by Allan Juhl, who has offered car rental in Greenland since 2010 and will be responsible for the daily administration of the Sixt office in the Greenlandic capital:
“The establishment of an international car rent company like Sixt has great significance for our island, where in recent years we have experienced a rise in visiting tourists. Many foreigners also live on the island for shorter or longer periods in conjunction with work in Greenland, e.g. on oil rigs. Naturally they have no interest in purchasing a car and therefore they rent instead. Like tourists, companies prefer to deal with a familiar brand they know from home and have confidence in: this will be available from july 2013 when Sixt opens in Nuuk.”
