You may be surprised to know that in the 2010 census, German ancestry represented the largest ancestral ethnic group in the United States of America. There are many aspects of American cultural that have German roots such as some of the most prominent and commercial representations of popular holidays and even words of the English language. There are also many famous celebrities, intellectuals and politicians with significant German ancestry, some who are even 1st generation Americans.
